UpPromote pricing is $29.99 a month plus 2% of referral sales on Growth, $89.99 plus 1.5% on Professional and $199.99 plus 1% on Enterprise, billed through Shopify. A free plan covers up to $3,000 of referral sales a month. Professional becomes the cheapest plan at about $12,000 of monthly referral sales and Enterprise at about $22,000, unless the monthly referral cap forces the move sooner.
That last condition is the part most price comparisons skip. Each plan caps how many referral orders you can review a month, so a brand with a low average order can hit the cap long before the percentage math says it should upgrade. Below are the figures from UpPromote's Shopify App Store listing and its help center, what the bill comes to at six program sizes, how the cap changes the answer, and how the total compares with Social Snowball, Refersion and GoAffPro.
How much does UpPromote cost?
UpPromote publishes four plans on its Shopify App Store listing and on its own pricing page, and the two agree. All charges are in US dollars and show up on your Shopify bill rather than as a separate invoice.
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | Fee on referral sales | Monthly review limit | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | None | $3,000 of referral sales | Link and coupon tracking, one program, manual payouts, W-9 collection |
| Growth | $29.99 | $299.90 | 2% | 300 referrals | Unlimited programs, customer referral program, marketplace listing, store credit payouts |
| Professional | $89.99 | $899.90 | 1.5% | 600 referrals | Unlimited coupons per affiliate, auto-generated codes, PayPal auto-payment, multi-level commissions, API and MCP access |
| Enterprise | $199.99 | $1,999.90 | 1% | Unlimited | Multi-store sync, unlimited staff accounts, coupon code commission, custom development, priority support |
Every paid plan starts with a 14-day trial, and you can downgrade or cancel during the trial at no cost. Creator Discovery, the add-on that searches for influencers, is priced separately from $39 a month (Discovery Starter, 35 report views) to $79 (Discovery Pro, 75 report views), on any plan.
Does UpPromote take a percentage of sales?
Yes, on every paid plan. UpPromote charges 2% of successful referral sales on Growth, 1.5% on Professional and 1% on Enterprise, on top of the monthly fee. The fee applies only to sales from referrals you approve in the app, not to your whole store, and it is separate from the commission you pay affiliates.
The help center adds three details that matter for budgeting. The fee is calculated when you approve a referral, at your plan's rate. If an approved referral is fully refunded or canceled in Shopify, its fee is revoked. If you only undo the approval inside UpPromote, the fee is not refunded. So the order of operations matters: cancel or refund in Shopify first, rather than reversing the referral in the app.
The fee also runs against a Shopify app spending limit. Once your usage charges reach that limit, UpPromote stops charging further performance fees until the balance resets, and the limit adjusts automatically when you change plans. It is a ceiling worth knowing about, but it is set per plan by Shopify billing rather than published as a dollar cap, so do not plan a budget around it.
What UpPromote costs at your referral sales
The table runs all three paid plans at six monthly referral revenue levels, monthly billing, UpPromote's own fees only. Commissions to affiliates come on top.
| Monthly referral sales | Growth ($29.99 + 2%) | Professional ($89.99 + 1.5%) | Enterprise ($199.99 + 1%) | Cheapest on price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $5,000 | $129.99 | $164.99 | $249.99 | Growth |
| $10,000 | $229.99 | $239.99 | $299.99 | Growth |
| $15,000 | $329.99 | $314.99 | $349.99 | Professional |
| $25,000 | $529.99 | $464.99 | $449.99 | Enterprise |
| $50,000 | $1,029.99 | $839.99 | $699.99 | Enterprise |
| $100,000 | $2,029.99 | $1,589.99 | $1,199.99 | Enterprise |
Growth and Professional cost the same at $12,000 of referral sales a month, where the half-point fee difference equals the $60 gap in the base price. Professional and Enterprise meet at $22,000, where the next half point equals a $110 gap. Professional is only the cheapest plan inside that $12,000 to $22,000 window, which is narrower than most brands expect.
Above $22,000 Enterprise is both cheaper and more capable, so staying on Professional is paying extra for less. At $50,000 a month the difference is $140, or $1,680 a year.
When the referral cap decides the plan for you
Growth lets you review 300 referrals a month and Professional 600. Enterprise has no limit. Those caps count orders, not dollars, so the plan you need depends on your average affiliate order as well as on revenue.
The quick test is to divide the cap into the crossover. At $12,000 of sales, 300 orders means a $40 average. If your average affiliate order is under $40, you outgrow Growth's cap before the fee math says to upgrade. A skincare brand with a $28 average order hits 300 referrals at $8,400 a month and has to move to Professional at that point, paying $215.99 instead of $197.99.
The same logic applies one step up. Professional's 600 referrals at $22,000 is a $36.67 average. A store selling $25 refills reaches 600 orders at $15,000 and needs Enterprise there, even though Professional would still be cheaper on the percentage. For a high-ticket store the cap rarely binds: at a $120 average, 300 orders is $36,000, well past both crossovers.
Is the yearly plan worth it?
Yearly billing cuts the base fee to $299.90, $899.90 and $1,999.90, which UpPromote describes as saving 17%. In dollars that is $59.98, $179.98 and $399.98 a year. The percentage fee is not discounted, so at real volume the saving is a small share of the bill. At $50,000 a month on Enterprise, the yearly plan saves $399.98 on a bill of roughly $8,400.
The refund terms are the other half of the decision. UpPromote refunds if you uninstall within the first two days. After that, canceling a yearly plan refunds the yearly price minus the monthly price times the months you used, so leaving after seven months of Growth returns $299.90 minus $209.93, about $90. Commit to a year only once you know which plan your order volume puts you on.
The real cost of one affiliate order
The useful number for finance is the cost per affiliate order, not the subscription. Add your commission rate, the plan's fee and the base price spread over the month's orders.
Take a brand paying affiliates 10% on a $60 average order and doing $10,000 of referral sales on Growth. That is about 167 orders. Each one costs $6.00 in commission, $1.20 in UpPromote's 2% and $0.18 of the $29.99 base, so $7.38 per order, or 12.3% of the sale. On Enterprise at $50,000 the same order costs $6.00 plus $0.60 plus about $0.24, or 11.4%. The fee shrinks as you grow. The commission does not, and it is usually ten times the software.
Many brands also hand affiliates a creative kit so the promotion looks consistent. If nobody on the team designs, you can generate on-brand ad images and copy from a product URL and put them in the affiliate portal, which costs less than one month of the Professional step.
UpPromote vs Social Snowball, Refersion and GoAffPro on price
Three other Shopify apps come up in almost every UpPromote evaluation. Social Snowball charges $249 plus 3% on Snow Day or $899 flat on Blizzard. Refersion charges $39 plus 3% on Launch and $199 plus 2% on Growth. GoAffPro lists Premium at $49 a month and Business from $99, with no revenue share on its pricing page (the full plan breakdown is in our GoAffPro pricing review, and GoAffPro vs Refersion sets the two flat-fee and percentage models against each other). The table uses each vendor's cheapest plan at each level, monthly billing, and GoAffPro's entry paid plan.
| Monthly referral sales | UpPromote | Social Snowball | Refersion | GoAffPro (Premium, Business from $99) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $5,000 | $129.99 | $399 | $189 | $49 |
| $10,000 | $229.99 | $549 | $339 | $49 |
| $25,000 | $449.99 | $899 | $699 | $49 |
| $50,000 | $699.99 | $899 | $1,199 | $49 |
| $100,000 | $1,199.99 | $899 | $2,199 or Scale on quote | $49 |
On published prices GoAffPro is the cheapest at every size, because it charges a flat fee, even if a larger program steps up to Business at $99 or more. UpPromote is cheaper than Social Snowball up to about $70,000 a month and cheaper than Refersion at every level. Social Snowball's flat Blizzard plan wins above $70,000.
Price alone would make the choice obvious, and it rarely is. UpPromote's case against GoAffPro rests on its affiliate marketplace, the depth of its Shopify integration and its support, and many brands pay the percentage for those. The head-to-head version, with review caps and platform support, is our GoAffPro vs UpPromote comparison. The UpPromote alternatives comparison sets the four apps side by side on fit as well as price, and the Social Snowball pricing breakdown and Refersion alternative page run the same arithmetic from each of their sides.
When UpPromote is the wrong tool
UpPromote is built for Shopify stores whose partners are people: creators, ambassadors and customers who each send a handful of orders through a link or a code. If that is your program, it is one of the most cost-effective ways to run it, and the 1% Enterprise fee is low by industry standards.
It is the wrong purchase if your store is not on Shopify, since UpPromote is a Shopify app. It is also the wrong purchase when the partners you need are companies: complementary brands for co-marketing, agencies that build stores for your customers, or retailers and distributors that resell. Those partners do not sign up through a portal widget. They have to be found, qualified and approached one by one. That is what Partnerships does. It researches companies already selling into your market, ranks them by a fit score with the reasons shown, drafts outreach a person on your team approves, and tracks partner-sourced revenue on a flat $47, $119 or $269 a month billed yearly, with no share of sales. The affiliate software pricing guide covers nine platforms on the same basis, and affiliate recruitment software covers the finding side.
Frequently asked questions
How much is UpPromote per month?
UpPromote is $29.99 a month plus 2% of referral sales on Growth, $89.99 plus 1.5% on Professional and $199.99 plus 1% on Enterprise. A free plan covers up to $3,000 of referral sales a month with no fee. Yearly billing lowers the base to $299.90, $899.90 or $1,999.90 a year, and the percentage stays the same.
Does UpPromote have a free plan?
Yes. The free plan has no monthly fee and no percentage, and it lets you review up to $3,000 of referral sales a month with one program and manual payouts. It suits a brand testing whether affiliates sell at all. Once referral sales pass $3,000 a month, or you need several programs or automated payouts, you move to a paid plan.
What is the UpPromote performance fee?
It is a share of the sales your approved referrals generate: 2% on Growth, 1.5% on Professional and 1% on Enterprise. It is charged monthly through Shopify, only on approved referrals tracked in the app. A referral that is fully refunded or canceled in Shopify has its fee revoked, but undoing an approval inside the app does not refund the fee.
Which UpPromote plan should I choose?
Choose Growth below about $12,000 of monthly referral sales, Professional between $12,000 and $22,000, and Enterprise above $22,000. Then check the order cap: if your average affiliate order is under about $40, Growth's 300-referral limit forces Professional earlier, and under about $37, Professional's 600-referral limit forces Enterprise earlier.
Is UpPromote cheaper than Social Snowball?
Up to about $70,000 of monthly referral sales, yes. At $10,000 a month UpPromote Growth costs $229.99 against $549 for Social Snowball Snow Day. At $50,000 UpPromote Enterprise costs $699.99 against $899 for Blizzard. Above about $70,000 Blizzard's flat fee is cheaper than UpPromote's 1%.
Does UpPromote work outside Shopify?
UpPromote is sold as a Shopify app and installs from the Shopify App Store, and its billing runs through Shopify. Brands on WooCommerce, BigCommerce or a custom checkout should look at Tapfiliate, Refersion or a network such as Awin or impact.com, which work with any store that can place a tracking tag.
