Compare · Social Snowball

Social Snowball alternative and Social Snowball competitors priced at your affiliate revenue

Social Snowball is affiliate, influencer and referral software for Shopify brands. It publishes two plans on its Shopify App Store listing. Snow Day is $249 a month plus 3% of affiliate revenue, and covers unlimited affiliates, influencer management, post-purchase referrals, automated payouts and fraud prevention. Blizzard is listed at $899 a month with no usage charges and adds TikTok Shop integration, creator search and outreach, social listening, UGC management and a dedicated customer success manager. Dotdigital bought the company in June 2025.

Brands start comparing for one of three reasons. The first is the 3%. On Snow Day it is usually the bigger part of the bill once a creator program works, and at $20,000 of affiliate revenue it adds $600 a month on top of the $249. The second is the jump to Blizzard, which only pays for itself above about $21,700 a month. The third is platform: the app runs only on Shopify, so a brand moving to another checkout, or selling through several, has to leave.

We build Partnerships, so read our row with that in mind. It is not a Shopify creator app, and for a brand paying hundreds of creators on discount codes it is not the right swap. It fits when the partners you need are companies, such as complementary brands, agencies and retailers, and the hard part is finding the right ones.

Stay on Social Snowball if your program earns more than about $70,000 a month through affiliates, where the flat Blizzard fee is the cheapest listed option, or if you use its creator search, TikTok Shop and UGC features. Choose UpPromote if you want the same model on Shopify at a lower percentage. Choose GoAffPro if cost matters most and you can run the program yourself. Choose Refersion if you want its affiliate marketplace. Choose Partnerships if your partners are companies and the job is finding and recruiting them on a flat published fee.

The short answer

What is the best Social Snowball alternative?

For a Shopify brand, UpPromote is the closest swap on price: the same fee plus a share of sales, at 1% to 2% instead of 3%, which makes it cheaper than Social Snowball up to about $70,000 of affiliate revenue a month. GoAffPro is the low-cost option with no listed revenue share. Refersion sits between them and adds a marketplace. Above about $70,000 a month, Social Snowball Blizzard at a flat $899 is the cheapest listed plan, so large programs may be better off staying. If your partners are companies rather than creators, Partnerships finds and ranks them on a flat fee.

Why teams pick Partnerships

AI prospecting and drafted outreach, with no marketplace tax

What Social Snowball actually costs at your volume

On Snow Day the bill is $249 plus 3% of affiliate revenue. At $5,000 a month that is $399. At $10,000 it is $549. At $25,000 it is $999, and at $50,000 it is $1,749. Blizzard stays at the listed $899 throughout, so it becomes the cheaper plan at about $21,700 a month, where the 3% equals the $650 gap between the fees. The fee sits on top of creator commissions. A program paying 15% commission on Snow Day spends 18% of every affiliate order before the $249 is counted. That is the number to compare against alternatives, not the monthly fee on its own.

UpPromote runs the same model for less

UpPromote charges a monthly fee plus a share of referral sales, like Snow Day, but the shares are 2%, 1.5% and 1% on Growth, Professional and Enterprise. At $10,000 of affiliate revenue its Growth plan costs $229.99 against $549 on Snow Day. At $50,000 its Enterprise plan costs $699.99 against $899 on Blizzard. The lines cross at about $70,000 a month, where UpPromote Enterprise at 1% reaches Blizzard's flat fee. So UpPromote wins on price for small and mid-sized programs, and Social Snowball Blizzard wins for large ones. UpPromote also limits the referrals you can review each month on its lower plans, 300 on Growth and 600 on Professional, so check that against your order volume.

GoAffPro and Refersion as the other two exits

GoAffPro is the cost-first choice. Premium is $49 a month and Business starts at $99, with unlimited affiliates, sales and revenue and no revenue share listed on its pricing page. You get less hand-holding and no creator search, so it suits a team that already knows how to run a program. Refersion sits between the two. Launch is $39 plus 3% and Growth is $199 plus 2%, with a custom flat Scale plan for brands above $1 million of annual GMV. It costs more than UpPromote at every volume we checked, but it brings an affiliate marketplace and supports more than one store platform, which matters if you are leaving Shopify.

When your partners are companies, not creators

Social Snowball, UpPromote, Refersion and GoAffPro all manage many small partners who each send a few orders on a code or a link. That is the right job for creator and customer referral programs. It is the wrong one when the partners who move revenue are other companies: complementary brands for co-marketing and bundles, agencies that build stores for your customers, and retailers or distributors. Those partners have to be found and approached one at a time. Partnerships researches the companies already selling into your market, ranks them by a fit score with the reasons shown, drafts outreach a person on your team approves, and tracks partner-sourced revenue on a flat $47, $119 or $269 a month billed yearly, with no share of sales and no dependence on Shopify.

Good questions

Social Snowball vs Partnerships, answered

For most Shopify brands, UpPromote is the closest alternative. It uses the same fee plus a share of sales, at 1% to 2% instead of 3%, so it costs less up to about $70,000 of affiliate revenue a month. GoAffPro is cheaper still with no listed revenue share. Above $70,000 a month, Social Snowball Blizzard at a flat $899 is the cheapest listed plan.
Social Snowball costs $249 a month plus 3% of affiliate revenue on Snow Day, and $899 a month with no usage charge on Blizzard, according to its Shopify App Store listing. Blizzard is set up as a custom plan after installation. Both plans are billed in US dollars through Shopify every 30 days.
Among Shopify affiliate apps, the main competitors are UpPromote, GoAffPro and Refersion. For creator discovery and influencer management, brands also compare GRIN. For publisher networks, the usual comparisons are impact.com and Awin, which both publish prices. For SaaS programs billing through Stripe, Rewardful and FirstPromoter are the common choices.
Below about $70,000 of monthly affiliate revenue, yes. At $10,000 a month UpPromote Growth costs $229.99 against $549 for Social Snowball Snow Day. At $50,000 UpPromote Enterprise costs $699.99 against $899 for Blizzard. Above about $70,000 a month, Blizzard's flat fee is the cheaper of the two.
Yes. Social Snowball runs only on Shopify. Refersion and GoAffPro support other ecommerce platforms, Tapfiliate works with more than 30 integrations and an API, and impact.com and Awin work with any store that can place a tracking tag. Confirm your checkout is supported before you migrate.
Blizzard is cheaper than Snow Day once affiliate revenue passes about $21,700 a month, because 3% of that equals the $650 gap between the fees. It can also be worth it earlier if you need creator search, TikTok Shop integration or UGC management and would otherwise pay for a separate tool.
Dotdigital, the UK-listed customer engagement company, acquired Social Snowball on June 25, 2025, for $20 million upfront and up to $35 million in total with performance payments. Founder Noah Tucker stayed on as CEO, and the product is now branded Social Snowball by Dotdigital.
Yes. Social Snowball is built for creators, ambassadors and customer referrals. For partnerships with other companies, such as complementary brands, agencies and retailers, Partnerships finds and ranks those companies by fit, drafts outreach a person approves and tracks partner revenue on a flat $47 to $269 a month billed yearly.
