FirstPromoter vs Tapfiliate: pricing, conversion caps, and which one is cheaper for your affiliate program

These two get shortlisted together constantly, and the comparison usually goes wrong in the first five minutes because people line up $49 against $89 and stop there. The prices are not measuring the same thing. FirstPromoter, run by Igil Webs SRL, bands you on the monthly revenue your affiliates drive: $49 up to $5,000, $99 up to $15,000, and from $149 above that. Tapfiliate, founded in Amsterdam in 2014 and acquired by the affiliate network group Admitad in February 2021, bands you on volume instead: its $89 Launch plan covers 5,000 clicks and 500 conversions a month, and its $179 Scale plan covers 100,000 clicks and 10,000 conversions.

Once you see that, the real comparison falls out of arithmetic rather than feature lists. Divide FirstPromoter's $5,000 entry ceiling by Tapfiliate's 500 conversion allowance and you get $10. That is the average order value at which the two entry plans run out at exactly the same moment. Above a $10 order, FirstPromoter's revenue meter binds first; below it, Tapfiliate's conversion meter does. Almost every B2B SaaS program sits far above $10, which means FirstPromoter's caps are the ones you will hit, and hit early. There is a second consequence people miss entirely: because FirstPromoter moves to $99 as soon as affiliate revenue clears $5,000, Tapfiliate Launch at $89 becomes the cheaper subscription from $5,001 a month onward, not from $15,000 as a lot of comparison pages still claim. Whether that saving survives contact with reality depends on one number nobody checks until it is too late, the 50-affiliate ceiling on Launch.

Choose FirstPromoter if your affiliate roster is large or growing fast and your average order is well above $10, because its 1,000-affiliate Starter allowance and revenue banding suit that shape. Choose Tapfiliate if you run a small, tightly-held roster earning more than $5,000 a month, where the volume meter is generous and the subscription is genuinely cheaper. Choose Partnerships if the roster is the problem, because neither of these finds affiliates for you.

The short answer

What is the difference between FirstPromoter and Tapfiliate?

FirstPromoter charges by the money your affiliates make you, and Tapfiliate charges by how many clicks and conversions they generate. That single difference decides almost every comparison between them. FirstPromoter is $49 a month up to $5,000 in monthly affiliate revenue, then $99 up to $15,000. Tapfiliate is $89 a month on Launch ($74 billed annually) for 5,000 clicks, 500 conversions and 50 affiliates, then $179 on Scale. Because FirstPromoter jumps to $99 the moment affiliate revenue passes $5,000, Tapfiliate Launch is the cheaper of the two above that line, not above $15,000 as is often repeated. The trap is the affiliate count: Launch stops at 50 affiliates while FirstPromoter Starter allows 1,000, so a broad roster kills the saving instantly.

Tapfiliate advertises two months free on annual billing, which is where the $74 and $149 monthly-equivalent figures come from. FirstPromoter shows a yearly toggle without publishing the discounted rates, so the annual comparison cannot be completed from its pricing page alone. Prices in this category change often. Why teams pick Partnerships

AI prospecting and drafted outreach, with no marketplace tax

The two ceilings coincide at a $10 order, and nowhere else

This is the whole comparison in one number. FirstPromoter Starter runs out at $5,000 a month in affiliate-driven revenue. Tapfiliate Launch runs out at 500 conversions a month. Those two limits are reached at the same instant only when the average affiliate-driven order is exactly $10, because $5,000 divided by 500 is $10. Every real program sits on one side of that line. A B2B SaaS selling $400 annual plans hits FirstPromoter's $5,000 ceiling on its thirteenth sale of the month while using 2.6% of Tapfiliate's conversion allowance. A consumer app selling a $6 add-on hits Tapfiliate's 500-conversion ceiling at $3,000 of revenue, comfortably inside FirstPromoter's band. Work out your own average affiliate order first. If it is above $10, and for B2B software it is above $10 by two orders of magnitude, then Tapfiliate's volume meter is effectively irrelevant to you and FirstPromoter's revenue meter is the only one that will ever bind. That single fact reorders the shortlist more than any feature table.

Tapfiliate gets cheaper at $5,000 a month, not $15,000

A lot of comparison pages, including an earlier version of our own, said Tapfiliate only becomes the cheaper option somewhere above $15,000 a month in affiliate revenue. Check the ladders and that is wrong. FirstPromoter Starter covers up to $5,000 at $49. The moment affiliate revenue reaches $5,001 you are on Business at $99. Tapfiliate Launch is $89 flat regardless of revenue, and $74 if you pay annually. So from $5,001 a month onward, Tapfiliate is cheaper by $10 a month on monthly billing and $25 a month on annual, and it stays cheaper all the way up to $15,000, at which point FirstPromoter moves to $149 and the gap widens to $60. On paper Tapfiliate wins a large slice of the middle market on price. The reason it often loses anyway is in the next section, and it has nothing to do with money.

The 50-affiliate wall on Launch is the number that decides it

FirstPromoter Starter allows 1,000 affiliates for $49. Tapfiliate Launch allows 50 for $89. That is twenty times fewer partners for nearly twice the price, and it is the single most consequential line on either pricing page. Fifty sounds like plenty when you are starting out with four affiliates. It stops sounding like plenty the first time a launch post or a directory listing brings in sixty signups in a week, because most affiliate programs accumulate a long tail of partners who register, take a link and produce very little. Those dormant accounts still occupy seats. On FirstPromoter you can carry a thousand of them without noticing. On Tapfiliate Launch you are choosing which fifty to keep, or paying $179 for Scale, at which point FirstPromoter Business at $99 is cheaper again for any program under $15,000. The price crossover in the previous section only holds for programs that deliberately keep the roster small, which is the opposite of how most affiliate programs are run.

The click meter is the one that bites first, and both plans assume a 10% conversion rate

Tapfiliate publishes two allowances per tier, and buyers model the conversion one and ignore the click one. Look at the ratio the plans are built on: Launch gives 5,000 clicks and 500 conversions, and Scale gives 100,000 clicks and 10,000 conversions. Both are exactly 10 to 1, so Tapfiliate has priced its plans around an assumed 10% click-to-conversion rate. Affiliate traffic to a B2B SaaS trial rarely converts at 10%. One or two percent is a more typical outcome once you count clicks that never reach a signup. At 2%, the 5,000-click ceiling produces about 100 conversions, which means you exhaust the click allowance at a fifth of the conversion allowance you paid for. The click meter, not the conversion meter, is the one that actually ends your month. It is cheap to run past at $1.50 per 1,000 on Launch, so this is not a disaster, but it is a line item nobody forecasts, and it is worth knowing that a single well-placed newsletter mention can consume the entire monthly click allowance in a day.

Honest about where each one beats us

If you bill through Stripe, Paddle, Chargebee, Braintree or Recurly and you want commissions that follow upgrades, refunds and churn without anyone touching a spreadsheet, FirstPromoter does that better than we do and does it for $49. If you need one tracking script that works across a stack neither of us reads natively, plus multi-language affiliate portals and a mature integration library, Tapfiliate has been shipping that since 2014 and has an affiliate network parent behind it. We are not trying to win either of those comparisons. What both products share is the assumption that you already know which companies and creators should be promoting you. That is the step where most programs stall, because a tracking link with nobody using it renews every month and earns nothing. Our agent reads your product, surfaces newsletters, creators, review sites, agencies and adjacent tools that already reach your buyers, ranks them on a fit score with the reasoning visible, and drafts the outreach for a person to approve. Nothing sends on its own. Plenty of teams run one of these two alongside us.

Good questions

FirstPromoter and Tapfiliate vs Partnerships, answered

It flips at $5,000 a month in affiliate revenue. Below that, FirstPromoter Starter at $49 beats Tapfiliate Launch at $89. Above it, FirstPromoter moves to Business at $99 while Tapfiliate Launch stays $89, so Tapfiliate is cheaper by $10 a month, or $25 if you pay annually at $74. That advantage only holds while you stay under 50 affiliates, 500 conversions and 5,000 clicks a month.
Tapfiliate publishes two prices and quotes the third. Launch is $89 a month, or $74 a month billed annually at $890 a year, and covers one program, 50 affiliates, 5,000 clicks, 500 conversions and one team member. Scale is $179 a month, or $149 billed annually at $1,790, and covers unlimited programs and affiliates, 100,000 clicks, 10,000 conversions and five team members. Enterprise is custom. Verified September 2026.
FirstPromoter publishes three plans, all banded by the monthly revenue your affiliates generate. Starter is $49 a month for up to $5,000 in affiliate revenue, 1,000 affiliates, 3 campaigns and 2 websites. Business is $99 for up to $15,000 with unlimited affiliates and campaigns and 3 websites. Enterprise starts at $149 above $15,000. All three include unlimited team members and a 14-day trial with no credit card.
Yes, and this is a real difference between the two. Tapfiliate bills $15 per additional 1,000 conversions and $1.50 per additional 1,000 clicks on Launch, dropping to $10 and $1 on Scale. FirstPromoter publishes no overage rate at all; exceeding a revenue band moves you to the next plan instead. Overage is the gentler mechanism for an occasional spike, but it makes the monthly bill variable.
Fifty on the Launch plan, then unlimited from Scale upward. That 50-affiliate ceiling is the most commonly missed limit in this comparison, because FirstPromoter allows 1,000 affiliates on its $49 Starter plan. If your program attracts a long tail of partners who sign up and produce little, which most do, you will hit Tapfiliate's wall long before you hit any revenue or conversion limit.
Admitad. Tapfiliate was founded in Amsterdam in 2014 and was acquired by the affiliate network group Admitad in February 2021, so it is part of a larger performance marketing organization rather than an independent product. FirstPromoter is operated by Igil Webs SRL. Ownership is worth confirming during vendor review, because it affects roadmap, support and where your affiliate data sits.
FirstPromoter, in most cases, for two reasons. It reads Stripe, Paddle and Chargebee subscription events directly, so commissions follow upgrades, downgrades, refunds and churn automatically, which matters when you sell recurring plans. And its 1,000-affiliate Starter allowance suits the wide, low-yield rosters B2B programs accumulate. Tapfiliate wins when the roster is deliberately small and revenue sits between $5,000 and $15,000 a month.
They are two separate monthly allowances on the Launch plan, and you are capped by whichever you reach first. The ratio between them is exactly 10 to 1 on both published tiers, so the plans are built around an assumed 10% click-to-conversion rate. Affiliate traffic to a SaaS trial typically converts far below that, which means the click allowance usually runs out well before the conversion allowance.
Neither does. Both are tracking and payout infrastructure that begins once you already know who should promote your product, and recruiting stays entirely your job. This is the step where most affiliate programs stall, because the subscription renews every month whether or not anyone is sending traffic. It is the specific gap Partnerships was built to close.
No. Both are built around a tracked link, a conversion and a payout. Neither offers deal registration, partner tiering with co-sell attribution, or account mapping, which are the mechanics a B2B channel program runs on. If a reseller needs to register an opportunity so your own reps do not collide with them, neither product has an answer, and that is usually why a SaaS company outgrows affiliate-only tooling.
FirstPromoter, for evaluating quickly. It gives 14 days on every plan with no credit card required. Tapfiliate gives only 7 days on Launch, 14 on Scale and 30 on Enterprise. Seven days is tight for an affiliate tool, because you need to install tracking, recruit at least one partner and see a real conversion land before you can judge whether the attribution is correct.
