Compare · UpPromote

UpPromote alternative and UpPromote competitors priced at your referral sales

UpPromote is the affiliate and referral app most Shopify brands install first. It publishes its plans on the Shopify App Store and its own site. Growth is $29.99 a month plus 2% of referral sales, Professional $89.99 plus 1.5%, and Enterprise $199.99 plus 1%, with a free plan that covers up to $3,000 of referral sales a month. On published prices it is already cheaper than Social Snowball and Refersion for most programs, so the reason to look elsewhere is rarely the entry price.

Brands start comparing for one of four reasons. The first is the percentage at scale: at $50,000 of referral sales a month, 1% is $500 on top of the $199.99, while a flat-fee app stays flat. The second is the review cap. Growth reviews 300 referrals a month and Professional 600, so a store with a low average order is pushed up a plan earlier than the revenue math suggests. The third is platform, since UpPromote is a Shopify app. The fourth is that the partners who matter turn out to be companies, not creators.

We build Partnerships, so read our row with that in mind. It is not a Shopify affiliate app and it is not the right swap for a brand paying hundreds of creators on discount codes. It fits when the partners you need are other companies and the hard part is finding the right ones.

Stay on UpPromote if your referral sales are under about $70,000 a month, you value its affiliate marketplace and Shopify depth, and your average order keeps you inside the review limits. Choose GoAffPro if cost matters most and you can run the program yourself. Choose Social Snowball Blizzard if your program earns more than about $70,000 a month and you want creator search and TikTok Shop. Choose Refersion if you are leaving Shopify or want its marketplace. Choose Partnerships if your partners are companies and the job is finding and recruiting them on a flat published fee.

The short answer

What is the best UpPromote alternative?

For a Shopify brand that wants the lowest bill, GoAffPro is the main alternative: Premium is $49 a month and Business starts at $99, with no revenue share on its pricing page, against UpPromote's 1% to 2% of referral sales. Social Snowball Blizzard at a flat $899 is cheaper than UpPromote above about $70,000 of referral sales a month. Refersion costs more than UpPromote at every level but supports other store platforms and adds a marketplace. If your partners are companies rather than creators, Partnerships finds and ranks them on a flat fee.

What UpPromote costs before you compare it

At $5,000 of referral sales a month UpPromote Growth costs $129.99. At $10,000 it is $229.99. Professional becomes the cheaper plan at $12,000, where its half-point lower fee covers the $60 higher base, and Enterprise takes over at $22,000. At $50,000 the cheapest UpPromote bill is $699.99 and at $100,000 it is $1,199.99. Those are the numbers to set against each alternative, not the $29.99 headline. The full plan breakdown, including the yearly prices and the refund terms, is in our UpPromote pricing guide.

The review cap can move you up a plan early

Growth lets you review 300 referrals a month and Professional 600. The caps count orders, so the average affiliate order decides when you hit them. Under about $40 an order, Growth's cap arrives before the $12,000 crossover. Under about $37, Professional's cap arrives before $22,000. A store with a $28 average order reaches 300 referrals at $8,400 a month and pays $215.99 on Professional instead of $197.99 on Growth. That is a modest step, but for a low-ticket store doing high order counts it is the main reason a flat-fee app with no listed volume limit starts to look attractive.

GoAffPro, Social Snowball and Refersion as the exits

GoAffPro is the cost-first exit. Premium is $49 a month and Business starts at $99, with unlimited affiliates, sales and revenue and no revenue share listed. At $50,000 of referral sales that is $600 or more a month less than UpPromote. You give up the affiliate marketplace and some hand-holding. Social Snowball is the exit for large creator programs. Snow Day at $249 plus 3% costs more than UpPromote at every level, but Blizzard at a flat $899 is cheaper than UpPromote Enterprise above about $70,000 a month, and adds creator search and TikTok Shop. Refersion costs more than UpPromote at every volume we checked. Its case is platform support beyond Shopify and its marketplace.

When your partners are companies, not creators

UpPromote and every app in this table manage many small partners who each send a few orders on a code or a link. That is the right job for affiliate and customer referral programs. It is the wrong one when the partners who move revenue are other companies: complementary brands for bundles and co-marketing, agencies that build stores for your customers, and retailers or distributors. Those partners do not sign up through a portal. They have to be found and approached one at a time. Partnerships researches the companies already selling into your market, ranks them by a fit score with the reasons shown, drafts outreach a person on your team approves, and tracks partner-sourced revenue on a flat $47, $119 or $269 a month billed yearly, with no share of sales and no dependence on Shopify.

Good questions

UpPromote vs Partnerships, answered

For a Shopify brand that wants the lowest bill, GoAffPro is the main alternative, at $49 a month on Premium and from $99 on Business with no listed revenue share. Above about $70,000 of monthly referral sales, Social Snowball Blizzard at a flat $899 also costs less than UpPromote. Refersion is the choice if you need a platform other than Shopify.
Among Shopify affiliate apps, UpPromote's main competitors are GoAffPro, Social Snowball and Refersion. Brands also compare BixGrow and ReferralCandy for smaller programs. For SaaS programs billing through Stripe, Rewardful and FirstPromoter are the usual choices, and for publisher networks, impact.com and Awin both publish their prices.
UpPromote costs $29.99 a month plus 2% of referral sales on Growth, $89.99 plus 1.5% on Professional and $199.99 plus 1% on Enterprise. A free plan covers up to $3,000 of referral sales a month. Yearly billing lowers the base fees to $299.90, $899.90 and $1,999.90 a year, and the percentage does not change.
GoAffPro is cheaper. Its Premium plan is $49 a month with no revenue share listed, so at $10,000 of referral sales it costs $49 against $229.99 for UpPromote Growth. UpPromote counters with its affiliate marketplace, deeper Shopify features and support. If you already know how to recruit and run affiliates, GoAffPro is the better buy on price.
Up to about $70,000 of monthly referral sales, yes. At $10,000 UpPromote Growth costs $229.99 against $549 for Social Snowball Snow Day. At $50,000 UpPromote Enterprise costs $699.99 against $899 for Blizzard. Above about $70,000 a month, Blizzard's flat fee is cheaper than UpPromote's 1%.
Growth lets you review 300 referrals a month and Professional 600, while Enterprise has no limit. A store whose affiliate orders exceed the cap has to move up a plan to keep approving them. With an average order under about $40, that happens on Growth before the fee math alone would justify Professional.
Yes. UpPromote is a Shopify app. Refersion and GoAffPro support other ecommerce platforms, Tapfiliate offers more than 30 integrations and an API, and impact.com and Awin work with any store that can place a tracking tag. Confirm your checkout is supported before you migrate.
Yes. UpPromote is built for affiliates, creators and customer referrals. For partnerships with other companies, such as complementary brands, agencies and retailers, Partnerships finds and ranks those companies by fit, drafts outreach a person approves and tracks partner revenue on a flat $47 to $269 a month billed yearly.
