Social Snowball pricing starts at $249 a month plus 3% of affiliate revenue on the Snow Day plan. Blizzard is listed at $899 a month with no usage charges and is set up as a custom plan after you install the app. Both are billed through Shopify every 30 days, and the app only works on Shopify. Snow Day becomes the more expensive plan once affiliate revenue passes about $21,700 a month.

That last number is the one most brands miss. The $249 looks like the price, but on Snow Day the 3% is usually the larger part of the bill once a creator program is working. Below are the figures from Social Snowball's own Shopify App Store listing, what the bill comes to at five program sizes, where Blizzard pays for itself, and how the total compares with UpPromote and Refersion, the two apps Shopify brands most often price it against.

How much does Social Snowball cost?

Social Snowball publishes two plans on its Shopify App Store listing. Its own website sends you to a demo rather than a price list, so the listing is the primary source, and it is the one that governs what Shopify actually charges your store.

PlanMonthly feeUsage chargeListed forWhat it adds
Snow Day$2493% of affiliate revenueBrands new to affiliates and referralsUnlimited affiliates, influencer management, post-purchase referrals, automated payouts, fraud prevention, tiered structures, live chat support
Blizzard$899, custom plan after installNoneEstablished programsEverything in Snow Day plus TikTok Shop integration, creator search and outreach, social listening, UGC management, Instagram DM chat, white-glove onboarding and a dedicated customer success manager

The listing states that all charges are in US dollars and that recurring and usage-based charges are billed every 30 days. In practice that means the 3% shows up on your Shopify bill next to your other apps, not as a separate invoice, which is worth knowing when finance asks why the app line moves every month.

Because Blizzard is described as a custom plan created after installation, treat $899 as the listed starting point. The final figure is agreed with Social Snowball's team, and it is the one to get in writing before you commit.

Does Social Snowball take a percentage of sales?

Yes, on Snow Day. Social Snowball charges 3% of affiliate revenue on top of the $249 monthly fee. Blizzard has no usage charge, so the $899 stays flat however much your affiliates sell. The 3% is on revenue your affiliates drive, not on total store revenue, and it is separate from the commission you pay the affiliates themselves.

That last point changes the real cost of each sale. If you pay creators 15% and Snow Day takes 3%, an affiliate order costs you 18% of its value before the $249 is spread across the month. On a $60 average order that is $10.80 per sale.

One detail is worth confirming with their team before you sign. Snow Day includes post-purchase customer referrals as well as creator affiliates, and the listing describes the fee as a share of affiliate revenue. Ask in writing whether orders from customer referral links count toward the 3%. For a brand that enrolls every buyer as a referrer, that answer can move the bill more than any creator does.

What Social Snowball costs at your affiliate revenue

The table below runs both plans at five monthly affiliate revenue levels. It includes only Social Snowball's own fees, not the commissions you pay creators.

Monthly affiliate revenueSnow Day ($249 + 3%)Blizzard ($899 listed)Cheaper planSnow Day per year
$5,000$399$899Snow Day$4,788
$10,000$549$899Snow Day$6,588
$25,000$999$899Blizzard$11,988
$50,000$1,749$899Blizzard$20,988
$100,000$3,249$899Blizzard$38,988

The two plans cost the same at $21,667 of affiliate revenue a month, where 3% equals the $650 gap between the fees. Below that line Snow Day is cheaper even though Blizzard has more features. Above it Blizzard is cheaper and includes more, so staying on Snow Day is simply paying extra.

Most brands do not sit still on that line. A program doing $15,000 in a normal month can do $40,000 in November. On Snow Day that one month costs $1,449 instead of $699. If your holiday peak regularly crosses the line, average the year before you choose, because a flat fee takes the peak out of the bill.

Snow Day or Blizzard, which one should you pick?

Pick Snow Day if your affiliate revenue is under about $20,000 a month and you mainly need tracking, payouts, codes and customer referrals. Pick Blizzard once revenue is reliably above about $22,000, or earlier if you need creator search, TikTok Shop or UGC management badly enough to pay for them.

Paying for Blizzard early is a real choice, not a mistake. At $10,000 of affiliate revenue the step from Snow Day to Blizzard costs $350 a month. If creator search replaces a separate discovery tool, or TikTok Shop attribution is how your creators actually sell, that can be the cheaper stack overall. If the feature you want is mostly UGC for your paid social, compare the step with what it costs to turn a product page into UGC-style video ads directly, because the ads are often the only reason the content is being collected.

Social Snowball vs UpPromote and Refersion on price

UpPromote and Refersion use the same model as Snow Day, a monthly fee plus a share of affiliate sales, but at lower rates. UpPromote charges $29.99 plus 2% on Growth, $89.99 plus 1.5% on Professional and $199.99 plus 1% on Enterprise. Refersion charges $39 plus 3% on Launch and $199 plus 2% on Growth, with a custom flat Scale plan above $1 million of annual GMV. The table uses the cheapest plan of each vendor at each revenue level, monthly billing throughout.

Monthly affiliate revenueSocial Snowball (cheaper plan)UpPromote (cheapest plan)Refersion (cheapest plan)
$5,000$399 Snow Day$129.99 Growth$189 Launch
$10,000$549 Snow Day$229.99 Growth$339 Launch
$25,000$899 Blizzard$449.99 Enterprise$699 Growth
$50,000$899 Blizzard$699.99 Enterprise$1,199 Growth
$100,000$899 Blizzard$1,199.99 Enterprise$2,199 Growth, or Scale on quote

On published prices UpPromote is the cheapest of the three up to about $70,000 of affiliate revenue a month. That is where its 1% on Enterprise adds up to the $699 gap to Blizzard's flat fee. Above $70,000 Blizzard is the cheapest listed option, which is the strongest price argument Social Snowball has, and it only applies to large programs.

Price is not the whole comparison. UpPromote's plans also cap how many referrals you can review each month (300 on Growth, 600 on Professional, unlimited on Enterprise), and our UpPromote pricing breakdown shows when that cap forces an upgrade. If no percentage at all is the goal, GoAffPro pricing is a flat $49 on Premium or from $99 on Business. Refersion brings its affiliate marketplace. Social Snowball's case rests on the Blizzard features and on its onboarding and account management. Our Social Snowball alternative comparison lines the options up by fit as well as price, and the Refersion alternative page runs the same arithmetic from Refersion's side.

Who owns Social Snowball?

Dotdigital, the UK-listed email and customer engagement company, bought Social Snowball on June 25, 2025. Dotdigital announced $20 million paid upfront and up to $15 million more in performance-based consideration, up to $35 million in total. Founder Noah Tucker stayed on as CEO, and the product now carries the name Social Snowball by Dotdigital.

For a buyer this matters in two ways. It is a sign the product is funded and staying. It also means pricing and packaging are now set inside a larger company, so price the renewal with that in mind and check whether bundling with Dotdigital's email product is on offer if you use it.

When Social Snowball is the wrong tool

Social Snowball is built for one job: a Shopify brand running creators, ambassadors and customer referrals, where many small partners each send a handful of orders. It does that job well, and the 3% is a fair trade at low volume.

It is the wrong purchase if your store is not on Shopify, since the app runs only there. It is also the wrong purchase if the partners you need are companies rather than people: complementary brands for co-marketing, agencies that build stores for your customers, or retailers and distributors. Those partners send fewer, larger deals and have to be found and approached one by one. That is what Partnerships does. It researches the companies already selling into your market, ranks them by a fit score with the reasons shown, drafts outreach a person on your team approves, and tracks partner-sourced revenue on a flat $47, $119 or $269 a month billed yearly, with no share of sales. If you are still comparing affiliate tools, the affiliate software pricing guide covers nine platforms on the same basis, and the affiliate recruitment software page covers the finding side.

Frequently asked questions

How much is Social Snowball per month?

Social Snowball is $249 a month plus 3% of affiliate revenue on Snow Day, and $899 a month with no usage charge on Blizzard. Blizzard is set up as a custom plan after installation, so the final price is agreed with their team. Both plans are billed in US dollars through Shopify every 30 days.

Is Social Snowball only for Shopify?

Yes. Social Snowball is sold as a Shopify app and connects to your store through the Shopify App Store. Brands on WooCommerce, BigCommerce or a custom checkout need a different tool. Tapfiliate and Refersion support more than one platform, and impact.com and Awin work with any store that can place a tracking tag.

When does Blizzard become cheaper than Snow Day?

At about $21,700 of affiliate revenue a month. At that level Snow Day's 3% equals $650, the gap between the $249 and $899 fees. Below it Snow Day costs less. Above it Blizzard costs less and includes creator search, TikTok Shop and UGC management, so there is no price reason to stay on Snow Day.

Is Social Snowball more expensive than UpPromote?

Below about $70,000 of monthly affiliate revenue, yes. At $10,000 a month Snow Day costs $549 against $229.99 for UpPromote Growth. At $50,000 Blizzard costs $899 against $699.99 for UpPromote Enterprise. Above about $70,000 Blizzard's flat fee is cheaper than UpPromote's 1%.

Does Social Snowball have a contract?

Both plans are billed every 30 days through Shopify, like other Shopify apps, so the listing shows monthly billing rather than an annual contract. Blizzard is arranged as a custom plan after installation, so confirm the term, any minimum and the renewal price with their team before you sign.

Is Social Snowball worth it?

It is worth it for a Shopify brand whose creator and referral program earns enough to justify the fee, and whose team will use the Blizzard features once revenue passes about $22,000 a month. For a small program the same model costs less on UpPromote, and the UpPromote alternatives page shows where even that is beaten. For B2B partners such as agencies and retailers, a partner discovery tool fits better.
