Rewardful and FirstPromoter cost almost exactly the same, so price is not the deciding factor. Both publish tiers at $49, $99, and $149 and up per month, metered by how much affiliate revenue you track. Choose Rewardful if you bill on Stripe and want the fastest possible setup. Choose FirstPromoter if you bill on Chargebee, Braintree, or Recurly, or if you need multi-tier commissions, campaign-level rates, and fraud controls. Neither one recruits affiliates for you, which is the constraint most SaaS programs actually hit. Below is the full comparison with pricing verified in July 2026.

Pricing, side by side

Tier Rewardful FirstPromoter
Entry $49/mo, up to $7,500/mo affiliate revenue, up to 2 team members, unlimited affiliates $49/mo, up to $5,000/mo affiliate revenue, capped at 1,000 affiliates, unlimited team members
Middle $99/mo, up to $15,000/mo affiliate revenue, unlimited team members $99/mo, up to $15,000/mo affiliate revenue, unlimited affiliates

Prices taken from each vendor's own pricing page in July 2026. Both meter on tracked affiliate revenue, so both get more expensive as the program succeeds. The two differences worth noting at the entry tier are that Rewardful's Starter allows unlimited affiliates but only 2 team seats, while FirstPromoter's Starter allows unlimited team seats but caps you at 1,000 affiliates and a lower revenue ceiling.

Where they actually differ

Billing platform support

This is the clearest dividing line and the one most likely to make the decision for you. Rewardful connects to Stripe and Paddle. FirstPromoter connects to Stripe, Paddle, Chargebee, Braintree, and Recurly. If you bill through Chargebee or Recurly, the comparison is already over.

Where both support your processor, Rewardful's Stripe setup is the faster of the two. It is a one-click authorization with no webhook configuration or event mapping, which genuinely matters if you do not have engineering time to spare. FirstPromoter's Stripe connection runs through webhook-based settings in its integrations tab and takes longer to get right, though it is not difficult.

Commission logic

FirstPromoter is meaningfully deeper here. It supports multi-tier commissions, campaign-level rate control, and rate escalation as a partner produces more. Rewardful handles one-time and recurring commissions well but offers limited customization beyond that, with no tiered rate escalation.

Whether that gap matters depends entirely on your program design. If every affiliate earns 20% recurring, Rewardful's simplicity is a feature. If you want a bronze, silver, gold structure where rates step up at revenue thresholds, or different rates for a launch campaign, FirstPromoter is the one that supports it natively.

Fraud, reporting, and program tooling

FirstPromoter includes fraud protection and affiliate email automation. Rewardful is deliberately lighter. This tracks with the positioning: Rewardful optimizes for the founder standing up a first program in an afternoon, FirstPromoter for the team running a program that already produces meaningful revenue and needs to control it.

Which one should you pick?

Your situation Pick Why
Stripe billing, first affiliate program, no engineering time Rewardful Fastest setup in the category, and simplicity is the point at this stage
Chargebee, Braintree, or Recurly billing FirstPromoter Rewardful does not support these processors at all
Tiered or campaign-specific commission rates FirstPromoter Multi-tier and campaign-level rates are native; Rewardful cannot do them
More than 1,000 affiliates on a small budget Rewardful Unlimited affiliates from the $49 tier; FirstPromoter caps Starter at 1,000
More than 2 people managing the program on the entry plan FirstPromoter Unlimited team seats on Starter; Rewardful allows 2
You cannot find affiliates in the first place Neither, on its own Both track and pay affiliates. Neither goes and finds them

The question neither tool answers

Both platforms assume affiliates arrive. You publish a signup page, people apply, and the software tracks and pays them. That assumption holds if you already have an audience, a community, or inbound demand from creators. For most B2B SaaS companies it does not.

The pattern is predictable. A team picks a platform, sets a 20% recurring rate, publishes the page, and six months later has eleven affiliates of whom two have ever sent a conversion. The tracking worked perfectly. The program did not, because tracking was never the constraint.

Recruiting is the constraint, and it is genuinely hard work: identifying newsletters, review sites, agencies, consultants, and complementary tools whose audience is already your buyer, then writing something personal enough that a busy creator replies. This is the half Partnerships is built for. Describe your product and the AI BD agent surfaces those candidates ranked by transparent fit with the reasoning shown, drafts the recruiting message, and waits for a person to approve it before anything sends. Pricing is flat at $79, $199, and $449 a month, so a program that grows does not move you up a revenue tier.

It is also worth remembering that affiliate traffic still has to convert once it lands. A program producing clicks that die on a weak signup page will read as an affiliate problem when it is really a landing page conversion problem, and that is worth ruling out before you blame the partners.

Common questions

Is Rewardful or FirstPromoter cheaper?

They are effectively the same price. Both start at $49 a month, move to $99, and reach $149 and up. The difference is at the entry tier: Rewardful covers up to $7,500 a month in tracked affiliate revenue with unlimited affiliates but 2 team seats, while FirstPromoter covers up to $5,000 with a 1,000 affiliate cap and unlimited seats. Rewardful also publishes two months free on annual billing.

Does Rewardful work with Chargebee?

No. Rewardful supports Stripe and Paddle only. FirstPromoter supports Stripe, Paddle, Chargebee, Braintree, and Recurly, so it is the direct answer if Chargebee is your billing platform.

Can either handle B2B reseller or referral partners?

Only lightly. Both handle customer referral programs alongside affiliates, and both do it well. Neither supports deal registration, partner tiering with co-sell attribution, or account mapping, so a B2B channel motion will need a separate partner relationship management system. That split is worth deciding before you commit, not after.

Do either of them find affiliates for you?

No. Both are tracking, attribution, and payout platforms. Affiliates reach you through your own signup page or your own outreach. If building the affiliate list is the bottleneck, add a discovery layer rather than switching between two tools that solve the same solved problem.
